06 May 2012. Dhaka, Bangladesh- The Buddhist community celebrates Buddha Purnima by performing special worship & prepare light candle at the Old part of Dhaka Bashabo Buddhist Temple. The day marks Gautam Buddha’s birth, enlightenment and death. It falls on the day of the full moon in May. The Buddha — Siddhartha Gautam — was born in the Shakya royal family in Lumbini in south Nepal. Using historical records referring to Alexander, the Great and Emperor Ashoka, the Buddha’s birth date is usually given as May 563 BC. © Monirul Alam

BNP Protest Rally in Dhaka (news)

02 May 2012 Dhaka, Bangladesh- Bangladeshi Police watch during the BNP protest at Nayapalton  Dhaka. The main opposition party BNP hold a protest rally at Nayapaltan in the capital on Wednesday. BNP standing committee member Moudud Ahmed made the announcement his party will stage countrywide demonstrations on Sunday to mount pressure on the government to trace its missing leader M Ilias Ali. He also demands immediate withdrawal of the cases. The filing cases are not going to weaken BNP s protest. 01 May 2012 Dhaka, Bangladesh- A Bangladeshi worker at work in lathe workshop without any eye protection at Old part of Dhaka. The Historic May Day observed today in Bangladesh and elsewhere in the world with a renewed pledge to protect the right of workers. The day is observed every year since 1886 commemorating the launch of a massive movement of works at the Haymarket in Chicago of the United State to establish the rights of eight-hour working day.
