10 April, 2017 Dhaka, Bangladesh – Bangladeshi students of the Institute of Fine Arts in Dhaka University busy to making the colorful masks and pottery for the preparation of Bengali New Year Celebration in Bangladesh. Pahela Baishakh Bengali New Year also called Pohela Boishakh, is the traditional new year day of the Bebgali people . It is celebrated on 14 April as a national holiday in Bangladesh, and on 14 or 15 April in the India states of West Bengal, Tripura and elsewhere by people of Bengali heritage, irrespective of their religious faith. The festival date is set according to the lunisolar Bengali calendar as the first day of its first month Baishakh. In Bangladesh The UNESCO added the Mangal Shobhajatra festival on Pahela Baishakh among other new items to the safeguarding intangible cultural heritage list during their 11th session in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, that runs from 28 November to 02 December.
