Strike on Dhaka to protest the gas tariff 

Police use a water canon on protestors during a half-day long strike against the gas price increase in Dhaka, Bangladesh on February 28, 2017. Activists from the Progressive Students’ Alliance, the student wing of the Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB) and the Bangladesher Samajtantrik Dal (BSD) along with components of the Gonotantrik Bam Morcha (a coalition of left-leaning political parties), organized the strike after the Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission announced increased gas prices for all consumers.

 16.10.2011. Keraniganj. Dhaka. Bangladesh-  Inside the factory some chemical left on the floor after leaks gas pipe. At least 50 people, including 12 firemen, have been sickened after a pipe of the chlorine unit of a chemical factory at outskirts of capital in  Keraniganj has leaked. The pipe of the chlorine unit of Global Heavy Chemical Company Limited, owned by one Sabur Khan, leaked around 9am on Sunday, South Keraniganj police chief Sakhawat Hossain  said to media. © Monirul Alam

Solidarity for Limon | bangladesh

Songkhubdho Nagorik Samaj, a platform to protect human rights, demanded withdrawal of cases against Limon Hossain who lost a leg in Rab shooting late March. The organizers have pledged to continue their protests until the government withdraw the false cases against Limon Hossein and provide adequate compensation for the loss of his leg.

They also called in protest against the government’s contract with ConocoPhillips signed on June 16 the deal awarded gas exploration and extraction rights to the US energy giant in two deep sea blocks in the Bay of Bengal.

At a protest rally, they also demanded strong security for 16-year-old Limon and his family members, and punishment of the accused.Rapid Action Battalion (Rab), on March 23, mistook Limon, a college student, for a criminal and shot him in the left leg at the village of Chhaturia in Jhalakathi Bangladesh.
