Weekly Photo Challenge: Beyond

Beyond. In Morocco, I snapped this photo of a tower. Though I focused my camera on the tower, it wouldn’t have been half as interesting without all of the houses, roofs, textures, colors, and action happening beyond the tower. Hopefully your eye was drawn to the rest of the picture as I hoped it would be.

Do you have a photo which invites the viewer to look beyond? Are there hidden depths in the background? Is the focal point just a framing for the rest of the picture? If it’s not clear why we should look beyond, tell us! Lead us through the story in your photo by Sara Rosso on January 18, 2013

A clash between pro-hartal activists and police has left a youth dead and at least 25, including five policemen, injured in the Jessore district. A key member of the opposition coalition has called a day-long countrywide shutdown on Apr 4 to protest the cabinet’s endorsement of the amended National Women Development Policy-2011. At a pre-hartal meeting at Muktangon in the city on Sunday, Islami Oikya Jote (IOJ) chairmen Mufti Fazlul Haque Amini said, “This hartal is to save Qur’an.
