Celebrating  Pahela Baishakhi 1422 | Bangladesh

14 April 2015 Dhaka, Bangladesh. The nation began celebrating Pahela Baishakh the first day of Bangla month 1422, with various programs since the early morning on 14 April 2015 Dhaka Bangladesh. Cultural organization Chhayanat welcomed the new year with Tagore’s songs and traditional music at Ramna Batamul, attended by tens of thousands of people attired with traditional attires on the occasion. Cultural activists, artists and students of Faculty of Fine Arts held the Mongol Shova Jatra, the mass rally, with the theme ‘Onek Alo Jalte Hobe Moner Ghore Let’s light thousand lights in the darkness of our heart’ in downtown Dhaka, Bangladesh.It’s day for friends and family,wearing colorful dress and having traditional food. Photo by Monirul Alam

১. সকালটা ছিল মেঘলা । সেই সাথে ঝিরিঝিরি বৃষ্টি পড়ছে । হাসপাতালের যেতে হবে, ডাক্তার দেখাব । প্রচন্ড ব্যাক পেইন,ডান পাশটায় অনেক বেশী  । রাতে ব্যথার জন্য ঠিক মতো ঘুম হয় না । ডায়বেটিসটা অনেক বেড়েছে সুগার লেভেল ২৪.৫ ! অবশ্য এই বেড়েছে যাওয়ার অন্যতম কারণ— একদম অনিয়ম ! ইনসুলিন শেষ হয়ে যাওয়া, আইসক্রীম খাওয়া, সুগার লেভেল চেক না করা । এটা উচিত না— আমি বুঝি, কিন্তু কখনো কখনো এটা ঘটে যায় । নিজের মধ্য থেকেও কোথায় যেন, এই আমি—হারিয়ে যাই । কী  বিচিত্র আমার এই  জীবনধারা !  আবার মাঝে মাঝে মনে হয়, এই এতো নিয়ম মেনে কী হয় !  দিই না একটু  নিয়মটাকে ভেঙ্গে ! 
 
হাসপাতালের করিডোরে বসে আছি । আমার সিরিয়াল নম্বর সাত । ডাক্তার ফেরদৌস তালুকদার রিপন, সে অর্থপেডিক বিশেষজ্ঞ।  সহযোগী অধ্যাপক, ঢাকা ন্যাশনাল মেডিকেল ইনস্টিউটের হাসপাতাল ।  তাকে দেখাব তার ভিজিডির চাজর্ ২৫০ টাকা । আমার আসে-পাশে আরো বেশ কয়েক জনকে রোগী বসে আছেন, কেউ কেউ খোঁজ-খবর নিচ্ছেন, ডাক্তার সাহেব এসেছেন কিনা, রোগী দেখা শুরু করেছেন কিনা । 
 
বসে বসে ফেসবুকে একটা  স্টাটাস লিখছি; এর মধ্য আমার পাশে একজন এসে বসলেন ! আমি এক নজর তাকে দেখে আবার লিখতে শুরু করলাম । লেখাটা শেষ করে তার দিতে পাশ ফিরতেই দেখলাম, তার ডান হাতটা উঁচু হয়ে আছে ! ভালো করে তাকাতেই দেখলাম— হাতটা অনেক ফুলে গেছে, কনিষ্ঠ আঙ্গুলটাতে ব্যান্ডেজ করা । আমি একজন সাংবাদিক
সেই কৌতুহল থেকেই জানতে ইচ্ছে হয় ঘটনাটি কি, কি ভাবে ঘটল ?

Bangladeshi photojournalist work on the Daily Prothom Alo, Zahidul Karim Salim is seriously injured by electric shock (Electric Burn) while he was on duty to cover Gazipur city corporation election on 26 June 2013 at 4 pm Dhaka time. His body almost 17% burned especially in arms, leg and neck. His camera body Canon ID Mark IV and lens is total burn. Right now he is in ICU of the burn unit of Dhaka Medical College under treatment of Dr. Samanta Lal Sen (Principal liaison) Professor, Plastic Surgery Dept. Dhaka Medical College Hospital Burn Unit.
