মেঘ—সকালবেলা ঘুম থেকে উঠে হাত-মুখ ধুয়ে রেডি হয়ে বসে আছে হুজুরের জন্য। আজ সে— নীল একটা পাঞ্জাবি আর সাদা পায়জামা পড়েছে । পাঞ্জাবির সাথে মিলিয়ে নীল রঙের একটা টুপি। আজ তার প্রথম কোরআন শরিফ পাঠ শুরু । এতোদিন সে কায়দা, আমপারা পড়ে শেষ করেছে ।
তার মা বললো, মেঘ— আয় তোকে ঠি ক মতো ওজু শিখিয়ে দিই— ঠি ক করে ওজু করে নে। কোরআন শরিফ সব সময় পাক-পবিত্র হয়ে পড়তে হয় । দাদীকে সালাম করে এসো। নতুন কোরআন শরিফ পড়া শুরু করলে মুরুব্বীদের দোয়া নিতে হয় ।
মেঘ আমাকে এসে বলে; বাবা ঘুম থেকে তাড়াতাড়ি উঠো ! আমি ঘুম জড়ানো কন্ঠে বললাম, কেন কি হয়েছে ? সে বলে আম্মী বলেছে—তোমাকে পাঁচ কেজি রসোগোল্লা কিনে আনতে। আজ বাসার সবাইকে রসোগোল্লা খাওয়ানো হবে। আমি তাকে বললাম, তুমি যাওতো এখন; দেখি আমি বিকেলে নিয়ে আসবো ।
বাপ-বেটা মিলে গতকাল বাংলাবাজার গিয়েছিলাম কোরআন শরীফ কিনতে । লিয়াকত এভিনিউ মার্কেটের জাহানারা বুক হাউস থেকে নাদিয়াতুল কুরান প্রকাশনীর একটা নাদিয়া সহীহ কোরআন শরিফ কেনা হলো। আজ থেকে তার কোরআন পাঠ শুরু হলো ।
সকলে মেঘের জন্য দোয়া করবেন। সে যেন ভালো ভাবে তার কোরআন পাঠ শেষ করতে পারে . . .

মেঘের স্কুলে পুজার ছুটি এখনো চলছে, আগামী রবিবার তার স্কুল খুলবে । মেঘ’কে বললাম চল—ফানুস উড়ানো দেখে আসি, আজ প্রবারণা পূর্ণিমা বৌদ্ধ সম্প্রদায়ের জন্য বিশেষ একটা দিন । মেঘ আমাকে বলল—ফানুস কি ? আমি তাকে বললাম—চল গেলেই দেখতে পাবি ! বিকেলের দিকে বাপ-বেটা মিলে মটর সাইকেলে করে ফানুস উত্তোলন উৎসব দেখতে চললাম—ধর্মরাজিক বৌদ্ধ মহাবিহারে ।
বৌদ্ধ মন্দিরে প্রবেশ করে মেঘ’কে ঘুরে ঘুরে দেখালাম, সে বলে— সে এখানে আগে কোনদিন আসে নাই । আমি তাকে বললাম, অপেক্ষা কর সন্ধ্যার দিকে ওরা ফানুস উড়াবে—আকাশে । বাপ-বেটা মিলে মন্দিরের সবচেয়ে বড় উঁচু বৌদ্ধ মূর্তিটির সামনে অপেক্ষা করতে লাগলাম ।
প্রবারণা পূর্ণিমার উল্লেখ যোগ্য দিক হলো পূজা-অর্চনা শেষে—আকাশে ফানুস ওড়ানো । বৌদ্ধশাস্ত্র মতে— বুদ্ধদেব আধ্যাত্মিক শক্তিবলে দেবলোকে পৌছে মাকে ধর্মদেশনা করে এদিন স্বর্গ থেকে মর্ত্যে ফিরে আসেন । এ কারণে বৌদ্ধরা প্রবারণা পূর্ণিমায় আকাশে প্রদীপ প্রজ্বলনের প্রতীকরুপ ফানুস উত্তোলন করে ।
আমরা দেখলাম ততোক্ষণে বৌদ্ধভিক্ষুরা প্রাঙ্গটিতে ফানুস এনে জড়ো করতে শুরু করেছে । বৌদ্ধধর্মাবলম্বীদের কেউ কেউ বৌদ্ধমূতিটির সামনে বসে প্রার্থনা করছেন, প্রদীপ প্রজ্জ্বলন করছেন ।
সন্ধ্যা নামার সঙ্গে সঙ্গে মাইকে ঘোষণা এলো—এখনই শুরু হবে ফানুস উত্তোলন উৎসব ! আমরা বাপ-বেটা প্রস্তুত তা দেখার জন্য; সাথে আমাদের আর এক সঙ্গী ক্যামেরা . . .

এবার দেবী দুর্গার আগমন ঘটেছিল—ঘোড়ায় চড়ে আর ফিরে গেলেন—দোলায় চড়ে । প্রতিবার দুর্গোৎসবে আমার খুব জানতে ইচ্ছা করে দুর্গা আসা-যাওয়ার বাহনটি সম্পর্কে। তার এই ধরাতলে গমনাগমনের বার্তাটা কি ? মূলত প্রতি বছর গজ, ঘোটক, নৌকা, দোলা এইসব বাহনে করে তার মর্ত্যে গমনাগমন ঘটে । তার এই আসা ও যাওয়ার সময় শুভ, অশুভ, ক্ষয়ক্ষতি একটা বার্তা বহন করে । আর এটা পুরাকালের মুনি, ঋষি ও পণ্ডিতরা গবেষনা করে এই বাহনে গমনাগমনের বার্তাটি অনুধাবন করেছিলেন ।
শাখারী বাজার, পাটুয়াটুলি হয়ে হাঁটতে হাঁটতে চলে এলাম সদরঘাট—বুড়ীগঙ্গা নদীর তীরে । বিনা স্মৃতি ঘাটে প্রবেশ করতেই মনটা এক অদ্ভুত ভালো লাগায় পেয়ে বসলো ! নদীটির পশ্চিম আকাশে তাকাতেই দেখলাম সূর্যটি ততোক্ষণে লালা রং ধারণ করেছে—আজকের মতো সে বিদায় নিচ্ছে এই ধরাতল থেকে আর তার এই বিদায়ের সঙ্গী হয়েছেন—দূর্গা দেবী !

Baba Lokenath Brahmachari was born in 1730 (the date of Birth is dipped in controversy) in the district of presently Barasat and in the village named Chaurasi Chakla a few miles to the North of the city of Kolkata, India.
At the age of 11, young Lokenath left home with his guru. He visited Kalighat Temple in Kolkata and then lived in the forests for 25 years, selflessly serving his master and practicing the Ashtanga Yoga of Patanjali along with the most difficult Hatha Yoga. After this he travelled to the Himalayas where he meditated in the nude for nearly five decades. Finally, he attained enlightenment at the age of ninety.
After his enlightenment he traveled extensively on foot to Afghanistan, Persia, Arabia and Israel, making three pilgrimages to Mecca. When he came to the small town Baradi near Dhaka, Bangladesh. A wealthy family built him a small hermitage, which became his ashram.There he accepted the sacred thread of the Brahmins and clothed himself in saffron robes. For the rest of his life he performed miracles and gave divine wisdom to all who came to him to seek his blessings. He received the title Baba.
On the 19th day of Jaistha, 1297 (1st June, 1890), Sunday, at 11:45 am, Baba Lokenath was meditating when he went into a trance with his eyes open, and while still in meditation, left his physical body forever. He was aged 160. He had made a promise before his death:
