Walk on the Red Curpet

The theme of the Fashion Show was Projapoti (Bengali for Butterfly) facing the courage from within. The Fashion Show was presented by acid survivors together with the Australian Youth Ambassadors and students from the NSU Earth Club. Together they walked on the red carpet to show that “We can equal to each other” and “together we can make difference”

Acid violence not only affects people physically and emotionally, it also has a devastating long-term effect on their economic and social life. Survivors face discrimination social inequality and a lack of opportunity. Bangladesh is the witness off the highest number of acid attack related incident.

Water Transport Strike

The nationwide indefinite water transport strike enforced by Bangladesh Noujan Sramik Federation entered its third day on Monday disrupting river vessel movement partially. As per the new structure, wages of the workers have been raised by 50 to 100 percent, which makes the minimum salary of a worker Tk 2,850.

Mother’s Day

“Mothers hold their children’s hands for a short while, but their hearts forever.” This quote rings true for most people, who will love their mothers no matter what age.”

Mothers Day is a special day for honoring Mothers through out the world. The Mother’s Day holds great significance for all of us. Mother’s day is right around the corner and this is the time of year where people all over the country are trying to describe the importance of a mother.  The concept of Mother’s Day is in its new stage in Bangladesh, but is catching up with the other major festivities celebrated in the culturally diversified in the country. As a globalization, this western festival of Mother’s Day has found its place in Bangladesh as well. Commercialization has given its celebration the much needed awareness. The concept has found a respectable position in the metropolitan cities.

Dhaka-April 2008- Bangladeshi laborer works at molding factory near old Dhaka.The historic May Day observed in the country as elsewhere in the world with a renewed pledge to protect the rights of workers and create a labour-friendly working atmosphere. The world every year since 1986 commemorating the supreme sacrifices of workers at the Hey Market in the United States to establish the rights of eight-hour working day and with a renewed pledge to uphold the rights of working class. Old Dhaka, April, 2010. Bangladeshi children ride on the merry-go-round { Nagor-Dola} to celebrating Pahala Baishakh at old Dhaka. The Nation celebrated the Pahala Baishakh, the first day of Bangla New Year 1417BS.
