Bangladeshi people ride on the motorcycle during a nationwide strike called by Islamist political party Bangladesh Jammat e Islami to protest cancellation of its registration, in Dhaka on August 14, 2013. One man died as police and supporters of Bangladesh’s Islamist party clashed in the capital during a strike called by the group.

Street People Keeping Warm in Dhaka

 Dec. 23, 2011 – Dhaka, Bangladesh. Bangladeshi street people warm themselves with fire in a cold  wave in Dhaka city. A cold blast has been sweeping across the country, leaving the homeless, elderly and babies vulnerable to the ravages of the winds and quite unable to cope with the calling of daily life. According to the local media report in the last four days, at least 27 people died of cold-related afflictions in Thakurgaon, Jamalpur, Jessore, Rangpur and Satkhira district.© Monirul Alam http://monirul.photoshelter.com/

 26 Oct. 2011 Dhaka. Bangladesh- Cultural personalities, eminent citizens and his fellow photojournalist paid their last respect to renowned photojournalist at  the Central Shaheed Minar premises in the city on 26 Oct 2011.

Photojournalist Rashid Talukder, the first Bangladeshi to win prestigious Pioneer Photographer Award, has passed away at a hospital in the city. He was 72. Talukder died at Square Hospital around 6:30pm on Tuesday while undergoing treatment there, his cousin Sheikh Mohammad Sumon told media. He was admitted to the hospital on Oct 19 following a brain stroke. © Monirul Alam
